Dodon: The worst times have come for the people of Moldova

Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon said on Saturday that the people of Moldova are in the worst times in the past two decades, and they are not good at all, as promised by those who came to power.

The former president of the republic published a comment on his blog about the published inflation statistics and rising prices for products, goods and services. According to official data, the annual inflation rate in August was 34.3%, while food prices rose by 38.4%.

Dodon added: “The worst times have come for the population over the past two decades, which are not good times, as those who came to power promise. In the absence of any sound anti-inflationary policy, Moldova still maintains inflation priority among the countries of the region. For comparison: annual inflation in August in the euro area was 9.1%, and in Ukraine – 23.8%.

Dodon noted that the standard of living in the country continues to deteriorate, and the main sources of income for the population are reduced due to high inflation.

He said: “The purchasing power of wages continues to decline at a very rapid pace. Real wages fell by 1.3% in the fourth quarter of last year, by 5.2% in the first quarter of this year, and by 11.3% in the second quarter. for the endless rise in prices.
