This was reported by a diplomatic source to the Russian news agency Novosti, where the source said Erdogan said in early September that he expected to discuss a food deal with Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. , September 15-16.
Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that the West exports most of Ukrainian grain to rich countries, and this grain does not reach needy African countries, and saw fit to discuss restrictions along the way with the Turkish president.
For his part, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said earlier that the main part of the food deal related to the export of Russian food and fertilizers is not working, which makes the possibility of terminating the agreement unlikely.
The source confirmed to the Russian Novosti news agency that this issue is now being prepared by the Turkish administration, which is in charge of coordination with the UN, and all the mechanisms and ideas developed will be presented to the Russian and Turkish presidents during their meeting in Samarkand.
On Monday, September 12, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said he had discussed the food deal with UN coordinator Amir Mahmoud Abdullah, without going into details of the talks.
