US President Joe Biden plans to run for a second term in the 2024 election, although polls show that 75% of Democratic supporters do not want to see him among the candidates.
This was confirmed by White House press secretary Karen-Jean-Pierre during a press conference yesterday, Wednesday, commenting on the results of an opinion poll conducted by the SSRS at the request of CNN, which showed that only 25% of Democratic Party voters support Biden’s candidacy in 2024.
“We are not concerned about the elections,” Jean-Pierre said. “The president has made it clear that he intends to run, but it’s still so far away that it’s too early to think about it.”
A week ago, the Quinnipiax University Research Service reported that 54% of Democratic supporters oppose Biden’s entry into the 2024 presidential race.
Biden’s decline in support for his party comes as his popularity in the country as a whole declines, against the background of the high cost of living and inflation, which reached its highest level in 40 years (9.1% year on year) in June.
