Russian State Duma deputy Oleg Morozov said that a new package of US military assistance to Ukraine would require Russia to respond on the battlefield, and this is a new stage of military confrontation.
The United States has announced a $2.2 billion military aid package to Ukraine, and the Pentagon said the new package includes air defense systems and long-range missiles for the HIMARS system.
Morozov said: “This, of course, will require us to respond on the battlefield. Long-range missiles and strikes on Crimea are, of course, a new stage in the military confrontation.”
The parliamentarian added that the answer should not correspond to the form of a special operation, but to “an actual declaration of war.”
The new package will also include long-range missiles, the Pentagon said in a statement, and the US will leave Kyiv to assess the possibility of using long-range missiles to strike Crimea.
For his part, the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the new aid package to Ukraine, said: “We must not forget Putin’s words in Volgograd.”
Earlier Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said: “Those who expect Russia to lose on the battlefield and drag European countries into a new war against Russia through Ukraine do not understand that a modern war with Russia will be very different for them.”
Putin stressed that Russia has something to answer those who threaten it, and the answer will not be limited to armored vehicles and tanks, since the entire Russian people have absorbed the legacy of the winners with their mother’s milk.
He said: “We have something to respond to threats, and this will not be limited to armored vehicles, this should be understood by everyone”, pointing out that “for those who threaten us, they do not seem to understand the simple fact that all of our the people grew up and absorbed the traditions of our people with their mother’s milk “… a generation of winners who created our country with their work, sweat and blood and gave it to us after them.”
