Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia: the EU has committed a new stupidity

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said Russia would not rush to retaliate against European restrictions on issuing visas to Russians, calling Brussels’ actions stupid.

Today, on Monday, Grushko told reporters: “We’ll see. There’s no need to rush here. It’s just that the European Union has made a new stupidity, it’s hard for me as a diplomat to find another word. In fact, they are trying to somehow divide Russian society between Russians.” Correct and incorrect Russians.

He added: “What is the possible response to this nonsense? Let’s see how this will affect communication between people. Previously, we did not support any communication restrictions.”

The European Commission recommended that EU countries not issue multiple-entry visas with a long validity period to Russian citizens.
