Defense of Russia: The Kyiv regime and its Western sponsors planned to seize the Zaporozhye plant in the presence of the IAEA mission

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that the Kyiv regime and its Western sponsors plan to take control of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant due to the presence of an International Atomic Energy Agency mission.

The ministry said in a statement that preparations were underway for the move and it was necessary to select “media representatives” specially trained for the task from Ukraine, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

She explained that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on September 2 that the IAEA convoy would be accompanied by cars with Ukrainian and Western journalists.

The department confirmed that Kyiv was trying to carry out this provocation contrary to the scenario that was agreed upon as part of the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to ensure its safety and security.

According to the documents, access to the Russian-controlled territory in the Zaporozhye region was to be allowed strictly only in accordance with the list of names of persons previously submitted to the Russian Ministry of Defense by the UN Security Department.

The department added that there were no representatives of Ukrainian or other media who would like to accompany the cars of the UN mission.

She reported that on this basis and to ensure the safety and security of the mission, as well as in order to comply with the mission’s security protocol, all persons not included in the agreed lists were stopped and not allowed to pass.

She explained that at the same time and at the request of the IAEA Secretariat to cover the work of the mission at the Zaporozhye NPP, the Russian side allowed the arrival of more than 60 media representatives to the station, including from France, the USA, China, Denmark, Japan, Germany, Turkey, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Korea, South, Vietnam and other countries.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that media representatives who arrived to cover the UN mission at the nuclear power plant were themselves eyewitnesses to the failed attempt to storm the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant by Ukrainian saboteurs, and the journalists were forced to hide in a bomb shelter. as they witnessed with their own eyes the intensive artillery shelling of the territory of the nuclear power plant and residential areas by the artillery of the Ukrainian forces.
