Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong has told his Barcelona teammates about his next destination if he leaves the Catalan side during the current summer transfer period.
According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, De Jong told his colleagues in the dressing room that he could end up moving to Manchester United this summer.
The newspaper indicated that De Jong is more open to leaving Barcelona for Manchester United, with the Dutch player expecting a deal to be finalized at the end of August.
And Sport explained: “De Jong is very angry at Barcelona because he sees that the club is pressuring him to leave, and for this reason the Dutch player will not give Barca any benefits after his departure. “
A few weeks ago, Barcelona reached an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of the Dutch player, in which United agreed to pay Barcelona 75 million euros.
However, De Jong, whose contract with Barcelona has been extended until June 2026, has stymied the completion of his move to Manchester United due to €18m in delinquent financial debts with Barça, according to Spanish media.
The Dutchman has played 140 games for Barcelona in various competitions since joining the Catalan side from Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam in 2019 for €75m.
