Czech minister warns EU of danger of revolution

Czech Justice Minister Pavel Blajek said that the large and rapid rise in energy prices in Europe threatens the existence of the European Union and endangers the political system of the Czech Republic.

According to him, the situation in the socio-political sphere has become as dramatic as it has not been since 1989.

“If the government does not solve the energy crisis, it will not stay in power for long,” the Czech minister added.

“If a solution to this crisis is not found at the European level, the EU itself will be at risk,” the minister continued.

At the same time, the Minister of Justice of the Czech Republic warned about the danger of revolutions.

Earlier it was reported that the Czech Republic, presiding over the EU Council until the end of the year, convened an urgent meeting of EU energy ministers to discuss measures to resolve the situation in the energy sector.

It is noteworthy that due to the sharp rise in electricity and gas prices, the demand in this republic for wood-burning heaters has increased tenfold compared to last summer. At the same time, the demand for firewood was increasing and the price of firewood rose very quickly.

According to the Czech Statistical Office, electricity prices rose by 33.6% year-on-year in July, and gas by 59.8%.
