The Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Josef Sekela, announced deep disagreements between the EU countries regarding the establishment of a ceiling on gas prices.
The Czech minister said during a press conference following Thursday’s European Union ministerial meeting that “discussions have been heated … and there are very different views on the level of the limit presented by the European Commission.”
It is noteworthy that on November 22, the European Commission presented a draft of an interim gas market management mechanism to combat the energy crisis in the European Union.
The mechanism aims to impose a ceiling on gas prices in order to reduce market volatility and protect the population in the European Union from large gas price hikes.
