Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday that the current crisis in Ukraine has shown that the expansion of military blocs and alliances will inevitably lead to a security dilemma.
Speaking at the BRICS Business Forum, he added: “History shows us that hegemony and alliance politics, as well as confrontation between different camps, will not bring us peace and security, but will lead to wars and conflicts. The current crisis in Ukraine has shown once again that faith in strength, the expansion of military blocs and the desire to achieve security at the expense of the security of other countries will inevitably lead to a security dilemma.”
The Chinese President added that hope for peace becomes possible only if “everyone remembers the bitter lessons of the war.”
He said: “The international community must abandon the zero-sum game, stand together against hegemony and power politics, and build a new type of international relationship based on mutual respect and justice.”
