Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that the US government is stepping up its military presence in the region to create a new, larger crisis in the Taiwan Strait.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi said: “First, you need to be careful that the United States cannot accept defeat. They are bringing together individual partners to add fuel to the fire, increase their military presence in the region and will contribute to the aggravation of the situation, as well as plans to create a new large-scale crisis.
He noted that “the forces supporting Taiwan independence” can continue to stage provocations and “go further.”
He stressed that some foreign politicians may try to use the current situation in Taiwan for their own purposes.
He called US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan “a political provocation and farce.”
