Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gerchev said his country is banning timber exports due to a sharp increase in firewood prices, which have doubled in a year.
The minister pointed out that the price per cubic meter of sawn and chopped firewood was around 90-100 leva ($47-52), but now those who want to buy firewood for heating in the winter have to pay 180 leva ($94). dollars) per cubic meter
The Bulgarian minister added: “There are many problems in agriculture, and now we have a shortage of wood. Today I will ask you to stop the export of timber to third countries (outside the EU).”
The heating situation in Bulgaria escalated at the end of April, when Gazprom stopped deliveries of gas to the country due to the refusal of its authorities to pay for it in rubles under the new plan.
