"Brussels Air" 315 flights canceled due to staff strike

Brussels Airlines, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, has announced the cancellation of more than 300 flights due to a planned strike by its employees from Thursday to Saturday, which will affect about 40,000 passengers.

The company said that due to the strike of pilots and aircrew, it would only be able to provide “about 40 percent of the original flight program”.

“The cancellations affect about 315 flights, 38 of which are long-haul flights, and affect about 40,000 passengers,” Brussels Air said in a statement.

Pilots, flight attendants and cabin crew are protesting the understaffing and overwork that other companies are facing amid the sudden resumption of flights.

The unions of low-cost airline Ryanair in five European countries have called for a strike this weekend from Friday to Sunday.
