British Parliament votes against vote of no confidence in Johnson government

Members of the British Parliament voted against a vote of no confidence in the government of outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson, with 349 members voting against and 238 in favor.

Earlier, the British channel Sky News, citing sources in the Labor Party, reported that Johnson had requested a vote of confidence in the government.

ITV called the event “extraordinary” because the vote would be at the suggestion of the government itself.

The channel said it could give Johnson one last chance to defend his reputation with MPs after “turbulent events” led to his resignation amid allegations of lying and breaking the rules.
