British Foreign Secretary warns against reaction to any country’s use of nuclear weapons

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley has warned that the use of nuclear weapons by any country in any part of the world will be followed by a backlash.

Speaking at a conference of the British Conservative Party on Tuesday, Cleverly, speaking about the possibility of the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict in Ukraine and the “red lines” for the UK, “It would be a case that suggests the use of nuclear weapons by any country anywhere in the world. It will not go unanswered.”

The British minister stressed that London is on the side of Ukraine and continues to support it, adding that the UK and its allies must show “strategic resilience”, otherwise it will be a signal “to other potential aggressors that the West lacks firmness.”

He added that the UK does not recognize the annexation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye to Russia, and does not recognize the subordination of Crimea to Russia.

He also emphasized the continuation of the approach to developing relations with the Indo-Pacific region, noting the important role of China in the region.
