Brazil players were eager to show their support for their compatriot, the legendary Pelé, after beating South Korea 4-1 in a meeting that brought them together on Monday night as part of the 2022 Qatar 2022 Round of 16 World Cup.

After the match, the players of the Brazilian national team raised a large banner with the image of the famous Brazilian football legend Pelé and his name, and also took a photo with her as a keepsake.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pele, was admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo last Tuesday for a reassessment of the treatment he was receiving for colon cancer. Doctors said his respiratory infection was “treated with antibiotics”.

On Saturday, the hospital said his condition was “stable” and that he was responding well to treatment for a respiratory infection.

And Pele’s two daughters said his health condition posed no “risk”, expressing optimism about his return home.

And his daughter, Kelly Nascimento, told Brazil’s Globo station that Pelé is “sick, he’s old, but he’s in the hospital with pneumonia. When he gets better, he will return home.”

For her part, her sister Flavia Arantes said that Pele “is not in intensive care, he is in a regular ward. He is not in danger, he is undergoing treatment.”
