EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell lamented that Western media are more interested in the statements of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov than his own.
A senior European official also lamented that African countries are better received by the Russian foreign minister than by Borrell himself during his visits to them.
In an interview with Radio Cadena Ser, the head of European diplomacy said: “Even the Western media sometimes act as a (resonator) for Russian discourse. Lavrov goes to Africa to say that European sanctions are to blame for the problem, and the entire Western press repeats this. I go to Africa to say: “On the contrary, no one understands this.”
Borrell also lamented that the Western media “has a certain tendency to listen to the enemy, the opponent. Recently, the President of the European Council (Charles Michel) was at the African Union summit to explain this (the position of the European Union) I did not see any newspaper or any other Western media covering this event.
