Blue Jays to open 2016 on the road versus Rays

The Toronto Blue Jays will open the 2016 season on the road with a three-game set versus the Tampa Bay Rays, according to the tentative schedule released Tuesday by Major League Baseball.

The Blue Jays’ first interleague series begins on May 6 when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers. They’ll hit the road on May 9 to take on the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.

Additionally, the Blue Jays will host the Philadelphia Phillies (June 13-14), Arizona Diamondbacks (June 21-22) and San Diego Padres (July 25-27) with San Diego visiting Toronto for the first time in franchise history.

The Blue Jays round out the road portion of interleague play versus the Phillies (June 15-16), Colorado Rockies (August 27-29) and Diamondbacks (July 19-20).

The club will wrap up its home schedule versus American League East opponents with the New York Yankees (Sept 23-26) and Baltimore Orioles (Sept 27-29) visiting Toronto before the Blue Jays leave for a three-game set against the Boston Red Sox.
