Biden’s comparison of the Palestinians with the Irish angered the British

Neil Gardiner, adviser to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, reacted to US President Joe Biden’s statement about the systematic repression practiced by the British authorities against the Irish.

During his visit to the Middle East, Biden met with the leaders of Palestine and recalled the difficult fate of the Palestinians.

He said: “My family is Irish-American. We have a long history with Britain and their attitude towards Irish Catholics for 400 years, which is not much different from the history of the Palestinian people.”

Gardiner found Biden’s words extremely harsh and tweeted: “Shameful anti-British comments by Joe Biden. Remember, this ignorant American President is not a friend of the United Kingdom.”

The natives of Ireland were persecuted by the British for eight centuries. From time to time this confrontation led to the mass extermination of the Irish by the British authorities.
