Belarusian Foreign Ministry: We need security guarantees if Kyiv and Moscow come to a peace agreement

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said his country needs real security guarantees if Moscow and Kyiv come to a peace agreement.

In an interview with Novosti Agency, Maki said today, on Monday: “If any agreements have been reached, if this process takes place, we also want to understand what is happening and what kind of guarantees each side receives. want to stay out of these guarantees.”

“We also want certain and tangible security guarantees for Belarus. This is absolutely normal,” he added.

The minister stressed that his country is interested in the region living in peace and that this calm is a guarantee of stable political and economic development of the state and society in Belarus.

He explained: “We had in mind the need for Belarus to participate in the final agreements in March and April last year, when negotiations took place. It’s not about our desire to benefit from them.”

He continued: “It is impossible to achieve comprehensive and complete security in this region without Belarus, which is located in the center of Europe. If we are an unstable country, it does not benefit anyone.”
