Belarus responds to assistance from Turkey and Syria in the aftermath of the earthquake

Today, on Monday, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko ordered the dispatch of units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to Turkey to assist in the aftermath of the earthquake and to resolve the issue of sending humanitarian aid to Syria.

According to the statement of the press service: “Based on the results of the report, instructions were given to send a rescue team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, accredited in accordance with UN international standards, consisting of 64 specialists, to the Republic of Turkey. with equipment, equipment intended for emergency rescue, search and rescue operations.

According to the report, instructions were also given on the work to send a consignment of humanitarian aid to Syria.

Regarding the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey, Lukashenka listened to the report of the Minister for Emergency Situations Vadim Sinyavsky on the readiness of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus to provide assistance to the affected countries.

In turn, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that, on behalf of the President, the ministry would provide such assistance.

The ministry said that a special-purpose unit “Zuber” of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, certified in accordance with international UN standards, was sent to Turkey to carry out rescue work in destroyed buildings.

Early Monday morning, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey, killing more than 1,500 people and injuring 7,634, according to the latest data.

There were also reports of destruction in several Syrian regions, earthquakes were felt in the Lebanese capital Beirut. The number of victims in Syria has so far reached more than 700 people, about 1300 were injured.
