Belarus has lifted the ban on the import of certain vegetables and fruits

The government of Belarus has decided to ease counter-sanctions and allow the import of certain goods from Western countries into this former Soviet republic.

The decision of the government came into force from the moment of its official publication.

According to the decision, it is now possible to import nuts, zucchini, lettuce, capsicum, eggplant, salad vegetables, apples and pears (except for pears intended for juicing).

From January 1, 2022, the Belarusian authorities imposed a ban on the import of many food products from “unfriendly” Western countries.

In addition to “milk”, the list of “forbidden” includes pork and its offal, fruits, nuts, vegetables, sausages and confectionery. In total, about 20 food groups fell under the ban.

It is noteworthy that the prices for vegetables and fruits in Belarus have increased significantly since the beginning of 2022. The largest growth was in cabbage, beets and peppers.
