Azerbaijani Foreign Minister confirms Baku’s readiness to sign a peace treaty with Armenia

In a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, with the participation of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jehon Peramov confirmed Baku’s readiness to sign a peace treaty with Armenia.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “Minister Jehon Permov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region and preparing for the signing of a peace treaty.”

The statement notes that Blinken, in turn, called on the parties “to refrain from armed clashes, and also stressed the importance of accelerating negotiations on a peace treaty based on the proposed elements and continuing work within the framework of the border demarcation commission.”
