Austria: We will not catch up with Sweden and Finland and will not join NATO

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer confirmed that Austria does not intend to catch up with Sweden and Finland and join NATO.

According to Neuhamer, during his talks with Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger, who arrived in Vienna on an official visit, much attention was paid to the situation in Ukraine.

“Austria will not follow the example of Sweden and Finland, which, due to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, have revised their military neutrality and seek to join NATO,” he said.

Sweden, Turkey and Finland have signed a joint memorandum allowing NATO to invite the two countries to join the military alliance.
