Australia expands sanctions list against Russia

The Australian authorities have added 16 people to the list of sanctions against Russia, including Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva, Ombudsman for Children Maria Lvova Belova and Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev.

According to the Federal Register of Australia, Minister of Construction Eric Vyzulin, Minister of Transport Vitaly Savelyev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia Mikhail Klishin and General Director of Rosgeologia Sergey Gorkov were also sanctioned.

The list also includes Mikhail, Roman and Igor Putin, whom Australian authorities believe are relatives of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, the Australian authorities included in the sanctions list a number of Russian journalists and media workers, including RT CEO Alexei Nikolov, CEO of the Novosti news agency and others.
