Ashraf Hakimi challenges the Israeli public

Moroccan Ashraf Hakimi, French defender of Paris Saint-Germain, responded to a question about the possibility of being booed by Israeli fans when he visits the occupied Palestinian territories for the third time.

Today, Wednesday, at the Sami Ofir Stadium in Haifa, Paris Saint-Germain will play their Israeli counterpart Maccabi Haifa in the second round of the European Champions League group stage.

After the French league match in Brest, in which the Parisians narrowly won 1-0, Hakimi was asked about his position on the behavior of Israeli fans if they attacked him again.

Hakimi replied, “It won’t bother me at all, what they will do is not a problem for me, I will go with the team and play, and then I will return to my home in Paris (laughs).”

Israeli fans attacked Hakimi during the French Super Cup match played at Tel Aviv’s Bloomfield Stadium last July, for the second consecutive season.

Fans in the stands booed Hakimi whenever the Moroccan star touched the ball since the start of the match because of his stance on the Palestinian issue.

And the Israelis were not satisfied with this, since their celebratory cries and shouts rose whenever the Nantes players interfered with him.

Hakimi had previously played in the French Super Match at the same stadium last year in August 2021, in which his team lost to Lille with a no-response goal, and he faced a similar situation after expressing his support weeks before. and solidarity with the Palestinian people during the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip and the settler aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

During the 2021 Israeli war in Gaza, Ashraf Hakimi posted a tweet on his official Twitter account in which he wrote: “Palestine is free.”
