After several months of testing, Uber announced that it is updating its iPhone app to include Live Activities functionality in more than 1,200 cities worldwide. Starting this morning, the latest version of the app will be accessible on the App Store.

A new iOS 16 feature called Live Activities enables iPhone users to keep track of current events on their Lock Screens on all iPhone models and in the Dynamic Islands on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. With this feature, iPhone users will find it simpler to keep track of an Uber ride’s real-time progress without opening the app. They can see the most recent ETA, the trip’s status, and the vehicle’s description and license plate number.

Uber would support Live Activities, as Apple had previously stated at WWDC 2022. Since late last year, the feature has been tested in a few nations. The capability is now accessible everywhere, thanks to the most recent update to the Uber app.

According to a business spokeswoman, Uber will also support the live Activities Eats app for food delivery “in the future months.”

In addition to Flighty for flight monitoring, Citymapper for public transportation, ParkMobile for parking, CARROT Weather for weather forecasts, and soon Google Maps for turn-by-turn directions, many other well-known third-party apps also support Live Activities.
