Arsenic found in Saakashvili’s body

Laboratory tests showed the presence of arsenic in the body of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, along with mercury.

Saakashvili’s lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze added in a statement: “To date, we have not received a nail test, but the medical authorities told us by phone that there was arsenic in Saakashvili’s body, and today we are waiting for the results of laboratory tests. “

It is noteworthy that foreign experts and doctors earlier, at the request of the Georgian Ombudsman, conducted an examination of Saakashvili’s state of health, including studies of accumulated toxins, and a final report was prepared, but it has not yet been announced.

Saakashvili’s mother and lawyers said he had high levels of toxic metals, including mercury, in his body.

In May, Saakashvili received treatment at a Tbilisi medical clinic after a lengthy hunger strike in prison.

Earlier, human rights activists reported that after entering the clinic, Saakashvili’s condition worsened, and he lost 20 kilograms.

According to his family, doctors gave him 17 different diagnoses.

His lawyer Khachapuridze explained that the muscles of his left arm had atrophied, and he did not rule out that he was diagnosed with more than 30 different diseases, including dementia and tuberculosis.

Saakashvili was arrested in Georgia on October 1, 2021 in connection with the initiation of criminal cases on charges of murdering banker Sandro Gergevliani and beating deputy Valery Gelashvili and was sentenced to six years in prison.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said that Saakashvili would spend his entire term in prison.
