The Argentine Foreign Ministry said that Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero received China’s support for his country’s entry into the BRICS group during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
“Argentina has received Chinese support to join the BRICS. Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero received official support from the Chinese Foreign Minister during the meeting, which also discussed bilateral cooperation, trade and regional issues,” the Argentine Foreign Ministry tweeted on Twitter.
Argentine President Alberto Fernandez announced his intention to join the BRICS group at its summit held on June 23-24.
