Arab country urges Egypt to invest its vast wealth

The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Hassan Adam, discussed with the Minister of Agriculture of Egypt, Mr. Kassir, Egyptians’ investment in fisheries in Somalia.

Somali Ambassador Elias Sheikh Omar said the meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation in livestock and fisheries, train and build the capacity of Somali technical personnel to serve the joint cooperation between Egypt and Somalia.

The Ambassador confirmed that his country supports the sustainable food and agriculture transformation initiative launched by the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture at the Climate Summit held in Sharm El Sheikh.

The Ambassador of Somalia added that his country looked forward to cooperation with Egypt in the field of livestock and fisheries, especially given that Somalia has a large stock of fish, and called on Egyptian investors and companies to invest in livestock, as well as in the agricultural and fisheries sectors, as they can be used and used to overcome the catastrophic consequences of the aggravation of the global food crisis as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

For his part, the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Somalia conveyed the greetings of the President of the Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his sincere congratulations to Egypt on the great success achieved at the Climate Summit. , which hosted the city of Sharm el-Sheikh, emphasizing that Egypt amazed the world with its organizational capabilities.

The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Somalia indicated that he agrees with the Egyptian Minister to expand cooperation between Egypt and Somalia, noting that it has been decided to activate the memorandums of cooperation concluded between the two parties to expand the scope of cooperation in the field of agriculture, fish and animals, and it was also decided to form joint committees to carry out what had been agreed in this regard.

While the Minister of Agriculture reaffirmed Egypt’s desire to support Somalia in achieving comprehensive development and improving and developing the livelihood of the Somali people, as well as meeting some of the needs to overcome the humanitarian crisis faced by Somalia as a result of drought and food shortages, adding that from the political leadership instructions were given to provide full support to the brothers in Somalia.
