Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said the Russian embassy hopes that the US media will objectively cover events in Russia and its initiatives in the international arena.
In his speech at the Russian Press Day reception on Friday, the ambassador added: “We hope that the American media will objectively cover the domestic political processes taking place in Russia and our initiatives in the international arena. I would like to express my conviction that your contribution to the normalization of Russian -American relations can be very important.”
The Ambassador congratulated Russian journalists on their professional holiday. He said: “You are doing your favorite profession with devotion and honesty and dedicate your life to it.”
The ambassador stressed that journalism is “a privilege and hard daily work”, and that the fate of countries, strategic stability and the well-being of millions of citizens depend on the truthfulness of press reports.
He said: “Despite all the negativity that comes out of the media, people trust journalists. For this reason, we urge the press corps to exercise caution and be attentive to the information.”
