Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin confirmed that Turkey will not join the sanctions against Russia, based on its economic interests.
“We have stated that we will not join the sanctions. Based on our economic interests, we are dependent on external energy sources. We openly declared our position to the West, and there is understanding. The Turkish economy, and we, of course, do not want this,” Kalin said.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier that his country would not participate in the sanctions imposed against Russia. He stressed that his country could be one of the guarantors of Ukraine’s security.
