An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

The Seismological Center for Europe and the Mediterranean reported that an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale has struck off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

The center said in a statement that the earthquake was recorded at 05:36 UTC this morning, Wednesday, 573 km northeast of Papua New Guinea’s capital Port Moresby and 108 km northwest of Kembe.

The report added that the epicenter was at a depth of 610 km.

There is no information yet about casualties or damage caused by the earthquake.
