Algerian company Sonatrach announces the discovery of three important gas and oil fields

Algerian state energy company Sonatrach has announced three new discoveries, including two gas discoveries, depending on its own efforts, and another oil discovery in partnership with Italy’s Eni.

The company said in a statement that the first discovery was the discovery of condensed gas in two Devonian reservoirs following exploration by Sonatrach at the Ein Iker-1 Southwest Exploration Well (IEKSW-1) in the Ain Amenas 2 exploration well. Illizi.

The flow rates recorded during the tests amounted to 300,000 m3 per day of gas and 26 m3 per day of condensate from the first reservoir and 213,000 m3 per day of gas and 17 m3 of condensate per day of condensate from the second reservoir.

The second discovery was made by Sonatrach and its partner Eni after drilling the Ghard Ouled Jumaa West-1 (RODW-1) exploration well in the Seif Fatima 2 exploration zone located in the northern part of the Berkin Basin.

The drilling of Ghard Awlad Jumaa Gharb 1, which is the third in an ongoing exploration drilling campaign in the area, has identified a discovery of crude oil in the sandstone formation (TAGI) in a Triassic formation.

During operational testing, the well produced 1,300 barrels per day of oil and 51,000 cubic meters per day of associated gas.

Sonatrach also recorded a third positive result while drilling the TAMZ-3 demarcation well at the Tagit proving ground in the Bashar Basin.
