Algeria decides on confiscated car manufacturers

Algeria’s industry minister, Ahmed Zgdar, said his ministry was taking inventory of car manufacturing plants confiscated by court order.

He said his ministry is currently working to build a solid foundation to meet the needs of the local auto market through “work that is preparing to entrust this task to a national complex that includes several institutions active in the sector.”

Zgdar explained that these institutions will be merged into a single complex, including about 42 institutions.

He added that more than 9,000 jobs have been saved among the confiscated enterprises in construction, industry and transport.
