Ukrainian Ambassador to Beirut Igor Ostash said his country had asked the Lebanese prosecutor to reopen the investigation into the Syrian ship Laodicea, which Kyiv claimed was carrying “stolen” Ukrainian grain.

“We turned to the Lebanese prosecutor’s office with a request to resume the investigation into the ship that was transporting stolen Ukrainian grain,” said Ihor Ostach.

He added: “We are expecting the arrival of 26,000 tons of corn legally exported aboard the Razzoni ship to Lebanon within 4-5 days.”

The Turkish Ministry of Defense today announced the completion of the inspection of a Ukrainian grain cargo that left the former Ukrainian port of Odessa to complete its course for Lebanon, and is the first corn ship to leave Lebanon. port of Odessa under the agreement on the shipment of grain between Russia and Ukraine under the auspices of the UN, Turkey, in the direction of Lebanon.

Lebanon denied claims by the Ukrainian embassy in Beirut that a Syrian ship anchored in the Lebanese port of Tripoli was carrying Ukrainian grain “which Russia illegally exported from Ukraine.”

A senior Lebanese customs official told The Associated Press that the ship, the Laodicea, which docked in the Lebanese port of Tripoli on Thursday, is safe and that its paperwork is in order.
