The Algerian authorities have refused to allow a delegation of Moroccan media to enter their territory to cover the activities of the Mediterranean Games, which will be hosted by Oran in the coming days.
According to a Hesport delegate in Oran, Algeria, the Algerian authorities informed the Moroccan media delegation of the refusal of the so-called “higher authorities” to give them the green light to enter Algerian territory, thereby confirming the return of the press delegation to Morocco that evening via Tunisia.
As Al-Jarida has pointed out in previous articles, a Moroccan media delegation was detained at Oran Ahmed Ben Bella airport for 24 hours, where he spent the whole night at the airport in inappropriate conditions, to the surprise of everyone, including the Algerian security service. . men who confirmed that the solution belongs to one of the “Higher Beings” as they described them.
Earlier, the Moroccan Association of Sports Journalists expressed its great surprise and deep dissatisfaction with the incomprehensible and unacceptable actions of the Algerian authorities with the accredited mission of the Moroccan media to cover the activities of the 19th Mediterranean Games organized by Oran from June 25 to July 6. , 2022.
In a statement, the association explains that the Algerian authorities: “From Wednesday, June 22, 2022, until 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, the Moroccan media mission did not allow the Moroccan media mission to enter Algerian territory. soil to carry out their tasks, so that the mission had to spend the night at the airport, as a result of which one of the journalist’s colleagues received injuries that required medical intervention for first aid and treatment.
And she stated: “Despite the serious steps and intensive efforts taken, fortunately, by the National Olympic Committee of Morocco and the Moroccan Consulate in Oran to facilitate the process of joining the national media mission, but, unfortunately, she did not receive the required and necessary response from the bodies concerned, especially the Committee”. The organization of the games and the local Algerian authorities, and they were treated with disdain and indifference.
From this point of view, the Moroccan Association of Sports Journalists called on “the competent Algerian authorities and those responsible for organizing the Mediterranean Games for the need for forethought, caution and prompt intervention in order to facilitate the entry of the Moroccan media mission into Oran”. and to ensure his safety and security”, emphasizing that he “reserves the right to take whatever he deems appropriate and necessary to protect the rights of the national media mission, with all competent authorities.
