AFP: Taiwan begins military exercise with live ammunition, simulating repulse of Chinese attack

Taiwan has announced the start of a live-fire military exercise simulating a Chinese attack, AFP reported.

Taiwan’s Eighth Army Corps spokesman Lu Wei Jie said the exercise began in southern Pingtung County shortly after 00:40 GMT with rockets and artillery shells fired. He added that the exercises will end at about 01:30 Moscow time.

Earlier this week, Taiwan announced that it intends to conduct military exercises in the south of the country to test combat readiness with live ammunition in Pingtung County, including howitzers, and is also conducting exercises next September.
