Forces of the Wagner group are fighting for control of the main railway junction at Artyomovsk in the western part of the city, where fierce fighting is taking place.
The military source added: “They are moving towards the railroad. They are retreating. We are catching up with them. The city is almost under our control. The center is already ours, and we are moving in other directions.”
The source indicated that the Russian army controls the center of Artyomovsk, while Wagner fighters are moving in other directions, pushing Ukrainian forces to the western part of the city.
The founder of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said earlier this week that about 80% of Artemovsk, including all administrative centers and factories, is under the control of Russian units.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian military complained to their commanders about sending untrained fighters to the front in Artyomovsk, noting that the recruits sent were not even able to shoot bullets.
