Jim Ryan from Sony seems unconcerned about an agreement that would maintain Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles. The CEO and President of Sony Interactive Entertainment are exclusively committed to stopping Microsoft from acquiring Activision Blizzard.
Lulu Cheng Meservey, EVP of Corporate Affairs and CCO at Activision Blizzard, claim that Ryan made his position known during a private conversation in February in Brussels, Belgium.
Ryan reportedly said, “I don’t want a new Call of Duty deal,” as reported by Cheng Meservey. I only wish to prevent your merger,
However, according to Cheng Meservey, the 10-year contract that Microsoft gave Sony has “much better terms than Sony would ever get from us (Activision Blizzard).”
Her comments reacted to Sony’s assertions that it is worried about a Call of Duty version being published for PlayStation platforms where “bugs and faults occur.” According to Sony, such a strategy would cause customers to lose “trust in PlayStation as the go-to location to play Call of Duty.”
According to recent reports, Microsoft’s justifications and agreements with organizations like Nintendo and Nvidia will allay the European Commission’s reservations regarding the acquisition. If the Commission approved, a significant obstacle to the deal would be removed.
Also, it was disclosed that Sony and Microsoft must exchange exclusive agreements from the previous four years.
