In past years, the selection of the Ballon d’Or winner was based on the levels presented by the players during the calendar year.
But France Football has made a few changes to the next Ballon d’Or as the score will be based on player performance in the football season (2021-2022) between August 2021 and May 2022 rather than the Gregorian year , as it was done before.
The number of journalists voting from representatives of 170 countries has been reduced to open up a voting system for representatives of the top 100 countries in the FIFA Men’s Rankings and the top 50 countries in the FIFA Women’s Rankings for the Best Player award.
The awards presented by France Football magazine include 4 categories, including the Ballon d’Or award for the best player in the world.
There is also the Cuba award for the best young player in the world and the Liv Yashin award for the best goalkeeper in the world.
It is noteworthy that the 2022 Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday, October 17, at the famous Théâtre du Châtelet in the French capital Paris, according to France Football magazine, which previously awarded the award.
