A billion Chinese data is being sold for 10 bitcoins

Anonymous hackers have put the data of one billion Chinese people up for sale after they managed to infiltrate a Shanghai police database with a cyberattack that resulted in more than 23 terabytes of stolen data.

The data includes names, addresses, places of birth, national identity cards, telephone numbers, and criminal case information.

The hackers on the forum demanded 10 bitcoins (equivalent to $200,000) in exchange for this massive amount of data.

Notably, the show garnered 177 responses and 300,000 views in a matter of hours, with the list posted by an anonymous user named China Dan.

Chinese authorities have not commented on the incident, but if the operation is real, it will be the largest data breach in Chinese history.
