The Turkish Defense Ministry announced the shipment of more than 622,000 tons of grain from Ukrainian ports within 17 days, in accordance with the Istanbul Agreement signed by representatives of the UN, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey.

The ministry said yesterday, Thursday, that the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul (Turkish, Russian, Ukrainian and UN) continues to coordinate the non-stop shipment of grain carriers in pursuance of the Istanbul Agreement on the shipment of Ukrainian grain to the world.

The statement states that the first grain carrier left Ukraine on August 1.

He stressed that every cargo ship leaving or heading to the ports of Ukraine undergoes a thorough check at the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul.

He added that over the past 17 days, more than 622,000 tons of grain have left the ports of Ukraine.

On July 22, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the UN signed the “Initiative Document for the Safe Delivery of Grain and Food from Ukrainian Ports” during a meeting in Istanbul.

The agreement provided for the export of grain stuck in Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea (Eastern Europe) to other countries of the world.

Many countries of the world are suffering from a grain crisis as a result of the impossibility of leaving Ukrainian ports for cargo ships due to the Russian-Ukrainian war that has erupted since February 24.
